Diminishers provide all the answers from "summary" of Multipliers by Liz Wiseman,Greg McKeown

Diminishers are known for their tendency to dominate discussions and provide solutions rather than fostering an environment where others can contribute their ideas. They believe that they have all the answers and see themselves as the smartest person in the room. This behavior often leads to team members feeling disengaged and disempowered, as they are not given the opportunity to share their own insights and perspectives. By constantly providing all the answers, Diminishers unintentionally inhibit the growth and development of their team members. When individuals are not given the chance to think for themselves and come up with solutions, they become reliant on the Diminisher for guidance and direction. This creates a culture of dependency, where team members are afraid to take risks or make decisions without the approval of the Diminisher. Furthermore, Diminishers who provide all the answers inadvertently stifle creativity and innovation within their teams. When one person is always dictating the course of action, other team members do not feel empowered to think outside the box or explore new possibilities. This limits the team's potential for growth and success, as they are unable to tap into the diverse perspectives and talents of all team members. In contrast, Multipliers understand the importance of creating space for others to contribute their ideas and insights. They act as leaders who inspire and empower their team members to think for themselves and come up with innovative solutions. By allowing others to take ownership of their work and make decisions autonomously, Multipliers foster a culture of collaboration and creativity.
  1. The concept of Diminishers providing all the answers highlights the negative impact of leaders who do not trust in the capabilities of their team members. By monopolizing discussions and solutions, Diminishers not only hinder the growth and development of their teams but also limit the potential for creativity and innovation. Instead, leaders should strive to be Multipliers who empower their team members to think independently and contribute their unique perspectives to drive success and growth.
