Justice is served, but at what cost? from "summary" of Mr. Mercedes (Spanish Edition) by Stephen King
Justice is a tricky thing. It’s supposed to be all about balance, about setting things right when they go wrong. But sometimes, the scales tip too far in one direction, leaving destruction in their wake. In the case of the Mercedes Killer, justice was served. Brady Hartsfield, the twisted individual behind the massacre, was finally brought to account for his crimes. The families of the victims could finally breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that the man responsible would never be able to hurt anyone again. But at what cost? The toll of that day lingered long after the trial was over. Lives were shattered, families torn apart, and a city left reeling from the horror that had been unleashed upon it. The scars of that day would never fully heal, no matter how hard people tried to move on. And then there was Bill Hodges, the retired detective who had made it his mission to bring Brady to justice. His pursuit of the killer had consumed him, driving him to the brink of obsession. In the end, he got his man, but at what cost to himself? The toll on his own mental and physical health was undeniable, a high price to pay for justice. So yes, justice was served. But the cost was steep. The price paid in lives lost, families destroyed, and individuals broken was a heavy one. And in the end, one has to wonder – was it worth it? Was the price of justice too high a burden to bear?Similar Posts
