It is human nature to have expectations. We build them up in our minds, believing that things should go a certain way. But when reality doesn't match up with our expectations, we find ourselves disappointed, hurt, and disillusioned. We hold onto these expectations like a security blanket, unwilling to let go for fear of what might happen if we do.
However, clinging to our expectations only serves to hold us back. It prevents us from fully experiencing the present moment, from accepting things as they are. Letting go of expectations doesn't mean giving up on hopes and dreams. It means releasing the tight grip we have on how things "should" be, and instead embracing what is.
