Seeking hope and healing from "summary" of Men We Reaped by Jesmyn Ward

In the relentless heat of summer, grief settled on us like a heavy blanket. We sought to escape its suffocating grip, to find a glimmer of hope amidst the darkness that threatened to consume us. We turned to each other, seeking solace in our shared pain, in the memories of the ones we had lost. We clung to the fragments of joy that remained, like lifelines in a stormy sea. As we gathered at the funeral homes, the churchyards, the gravesites, we found a sense of community in our collective mourning. We shared stories, laughter mingled with tears, as we tried to make sense of the senseless losses that had befallen us. We sought healing in the act of remembrance, in the acknowledgment of the lives that had touched ours in profound ways. But even as we sought solace in each other, we also grappled with our own individual struggles.
