Public policies neglect caregivers. In the absence of policies that recognize and support the vital work done by caregivers, their labor is often invisible and undervalued. Caregivers, predominantly women, provide essential care for children, elderly parents, and family members with disabilities. This labor is not only physically and emotionally demanding but also has economic consequences, as caregivers may have to forego paid work or reduce their hours to fulfill their caregiving responsibilities. The lack of acknowledgment and support for caregivers in public policies perpetuates gender inequalities and reinforces traditional gender roles. Caregiving is seen as a natural extension of women's roles as nurturers, rather than as valuable labor that requires recognition and compensation.
