The environmental crisis we face today is not solely the result of a few powerful individuals making decisions behind closed doors. It is also the result of a larger societal indifference that allowed these decisions to be made without opposition. Public apathy played a significant role in the escalating environmental crisis we find ourselves in. Throughout history, the public has shown a remarkable ability to ignore the warning signs of impending disaster. When scientists began to raise the alarm about the dangers of climate change, the public response was largely muted.
