We must confront our mortality in order to find true meaning in life from "summary" of Life: Why Live if You Have to Die? by David Perry

In our society, death is often seen as a taboo topic, something to be avoided and pushed to the back of our minds. We are taught to focus on the here and now, to live in the moment and avoid thinking about our own mortality. But what if I told you that by confronting our mortality head-on, we can actually find true meaning in life?By acknowledging the fact that we are all going to die someday, we are forced to confront the reality of our own existence. This can be a scary and uncomfortable process, but it is also incredibly liberating. When we come face to face with our own mortality, we are forced to reevaluate our priorities and focus on what truly matters to us. Instead of getting caught up in the trivialities of day-to-day life, we begin to see the bigger picture. We start to appreciate the people we love, the experiences that bring us joy, and the impact we have on the world around us. By accepting our mortality, we are able to live more fully and authentically, making the most of the time we have. Confronting our mortality also helps us to let go of the fear of death. When we realize that death is an inevitable part of life, we can start to see it as a natural and even beautiful process. This shift in perspective can bring a sense of peace and acceptance, allowing us to live with greater courage and authenticity.
  1. By facing our mortality head-on, we can find true meaning in life. We can live with greater purpose, passion, and gratitude, knowing that our time on this earth is limited. So let us embrace our mortality, for it is only by accepting the reality of death that we can truly appreciate the gift of life.
