Pi forms an unlikely bond with the tiger from "summary" of Life of Pi by Yann Martel
When Pi finds himself stranded on a lifeboat in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, his only companion is a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker. At first glance, it seems impossible for a human and a wild animal to form any sort of connection, let alone a bond. However, as the days turn into weeks and then months, Pi and Richard Parker develop a relationship that defies all odds.
Initially, Pi is terrified of the tiger and sees him as a threat to his survival. He goes to great lengths to protect himself from Richard Parker, building a makeshift raft to keep a safe distance between them. However, as time goes on, Pi realizes that Richard Parker is not just a ferocious predator, but a living being with his own needs and desires.
Through trial and error, Pi learns to coexist with the tiger, even going so far as to share his meager rations with him. He discovers that by establishing a routine and boundaries, he can live alongside Richard Parker without fear of being attacked.
