During times of transition, it’s important to remember to treat ourselves with kindness and compassion. Oftentimes, we can be our own harshest critics, especially when things are changing around us. We may feel overwhelmed, uncertain, and even scared. This is when we need to practice self-compassion the most. Instead of being hard on ourselves for not having all the answers or for feeling lost, we should embrace our vulnerability and treat ourselves with the same kindness and understanding that we would offer to a friend in need. Self-compassion involves acknowledging our own suffering and responding to it with a sense of warmth and understanding. It means recognizing that it’s okay to feel scared, confused, or uncertain during times of transition. Instead of trying to push these feelings away or berate ourselves for having them, we should allow ourselves to experience them fully and with empathy.
