Childhood adventures and escapades from "summary" of Knots in My Yo-Yo String by Jerry Spinelli

When I was a kid, I was always on the lookout for adventure. I couldn't stand being cooped up inside when there was a whole world out there waiting to be explored. Every day was a new opportunity to discover something exciting, whether it was a hidden treasure in the woods or a secret passageway in an old abandoned building. One of my favorite escapades was when my friends and I decided to build a treehouse in the tallest tree in the neighborhood. We spent weeks plotting and planning, gathering supplies and sneaking out after dark to work on our secret project. It was dangerous and thrilling, climbing up into the branches and hammering together our makeshift shelter, but the sense of accomplishment we felt when it was finally done was like nothing else.
