In the 17th century, Prince Khusraw revolted against his father, the Mughal Emperor Jahangir, due to a disagreement about succession. This caused a lot of tension and eventually, the Emperor had to intervene to stop the revolt.- Prince Khusraw Hakim revolted against his father, Jahangir citing injustice and poor judgment on part of the government. This revolt came to be known as ‘The Revolt of Khusraw’ in Indian history.
- Despite being brought into submission, Khusraw continued to have a strained relationship with Jahangir and more revolts were also said to be instigated by him in later years.
- The prince received the support of local chieftains who had once been subdued by Jahangir's forces and it seemed that the rebellion could carry across the kingdom.
- Eventually, Jahangir was able to quell the rebellion, imprison Khusraw in Gwalior Fort and recapture other areas lost due to the rebellion.
- After months of imprisonment Khusraw was released on the condition of promising not to take part in any further revolt or challenge his father's rule.
- When Jahangir passed away in 1627 AD, Khusraw once again engaged in a war for succession but ultimately lost out to his brother, Shah Jahan.
