Belly had always been drawn to Conrad. She couldn't help it. It was like he had this gravitational pull on her. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't shake the feeling that there was something between them, something unresolved. It had been there since they were kids, and it only seemed to grow stronger as they got older.
Conrad was moody and brooding, the complete opposite of his easygoing brother, Jeremiah. But there was something about him that Belly couldn't resist. She knew that he had feelings for her too, but he never seemed to act on them. It was like he was always holding back, keeping her at arm's length.
Belly tried to move on, she really did. She dated other guys, tried to convince herself that she didn't have feelings for Conrad anymore. But every time she saw him, her resolve crumbled. It was like she was stuck in this never-ending cycle of longing and heartache.
And then there was the incident at Susannah's funeral. Conrad had pushed her away, told her to leave him alone. It had hurt more than she cared to admit. She had thought that maybe, just maybe, things could finally be resolved between them. But it seemed like Conrad was determined to keep her at a distance, to push her away no matter what.
Despite everything, Belly couldn't help but hold out hope that one day, Conrad would come to his senses. That he would realize that they were meant to be together, that their unresolved feelings could finally be put to rest. But until then, she was stuck in this limbo, caught between what she wanted and what she knew was probably never going to happen.
