Love is not always enough from "summary" of It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover

Ryle had a way of making me feel like I was enough. Even when I knew I wasn't. Even when I knew our relationship wasn't. I thought love was the ultimate answer. The solution to all of our problems. But that's not always the case. Love can blind you. It can make you believe that everything will work out in the end, no matter how many red flags are waving right in front of you. I learned the hard way that love alone is not always enough. Sometimes, it's not even close to being enough. Sometimes, love is just the beginning. The beginning of a cycle of pain and heartache that seems impossible to break. You can love someone with all your heart, but if they can't love you back in the right way, then what is the point? I thought I could change him. I thought my love could fix him. But love doesn't work that way. Love can't fix broken people. Love can't erase the scars of the past. Love can't make someone treat you the way you deserve to be treated. Love can't make someone stop hurting you, no matter how much you want it to. I had to learn that sometimes, love means letting go. It means walking away from the person you thought was your everything because you realize that they are actually your nothing. It means putting yourself first, even when it feels like the hardest thing in the world to do. Love is not always enough, but self-love is. And sometimes, that's all you really need.
