Muscles produce movement from "summary" of Human Physiology by Gillian Pocock,Christopher D. Richards,David A. Richards
Muscles are essential for our body to move. They are responsible for locomotion, posture, facial expressions and breathing, allowing us to go about our daily activities. Without them, we would be unable to perform basic tasks.- Muscles are essential for human movement as they help to create and control motion in the body. When muscles contract, they move our arms, legs, and other parts of our body.
- In order to make smooth movements for everyday activities like standing, walking, talking and eating, each muscle must work together timed with precision and coordination.
- Each muscle is connected to a skeleton bone through tendons, producing a pull when the muscle shortens which flexes joints and causes a change in body position or creates force against an object.
- To produce a joint action with coordination of different muscles, action and relaxation of certain muscles occur simultaneously so that one limb’s joint moves while another is stabilized.
- By varying the tension of the muscles during contraction, subtle changes can be made to the force of motion which results in an unlimited range of human actions and movements.
