Dumbledore recruits Harry to learn about Voldemort's past from "summary" of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling
In the midst of Harry's sixth year at Hogwarts, Dumbledore began to share his knowledge of Voldemort's past with him, believing it to be vital in defeating the dark wizard. He took Harry on a series of trips using his Pensieve, a magical device that allowed them to view memories as though they were happening in real time.
Through these memories, Harry discovered the truth about Voldemort's family background, his early years at an orphanage, and his time at Hogwarts as Tom Riddle. Dumbledore revealed how Voldemort had created Horcruxes – objects containing a fragment of his soul – in order to achieve immortality, making him nearly impossible to defeat.
As Harry delved deeper into Voldemort's past, he began to understand the significance of the Horcruxes and the importance of destroying them to weaken Voldemort. Dumbledore knew that Harry's connection to Voldemort through their shared history would be crucial in their fight against him, as only Harry had the ability to locate and destroy the Horcruxes.
Despite the dangers involved in their mission, Dumbledore trusted Harry to carry out this task and prepared him for the challenges that lay ahead. He believed that by understanding Voldemort's past and motivations, Harry would be better equipped to face him in the final battle between good and evil.
As their journey continued, Harry learned more about the darkness that had consumed Voldemort and the choices that had led him down a path of destruction. With each memory they explored, Harry came closer to unraveling the mystery of Voldemort's Horcruxes and finding a way to end his reign of terror once and for all.
