Sirius Black is killed in the battle from "summary" of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Harry Potter, Book 4) by J. K. Rowling

The night was filled with chaos, the sounds of spells being cast and cries of pain echoing through the halls. As Harry raced through the Ministry of Magic, his heart pounding with fear and determination, he knew that he had to find his godfather, Sirius Black, before it was too late. Finally, he found him, locked in a fierce duel with Bellatrix Lestrange, a dark witch with a cruel sneer on her face. Harry's blood ran cold as he watched the two wizards exchange curses, their wands flashing in the dim light. He knew that the outcome of this battle would determine Sirius's fate. But then, in a flash of green light, everything changed. Bellatrix's curse hit its mark, and Sirius fell backwards through the veil that hung in the Death Chamber. Harry's heart seemed to stop as he watched his godfather disappear into the unknown, his eyes wide with shock and disbelief.
