The trio, consisting of Harry, Ron, and Hermione, decided to seek help from Professor Lockhart. They believed that his expertise in magical creatures and dueling would be beneficial in solving the mystery surrounding the Chamber of Secrets. However, upon meeting with Lockhart, they quickly realized that he was not the skilled wizard he claimed to be.
Lockhart, with his perfect smile and flashy demeanor, seemed more concerned with signing autographs and boasting about his past achievements than actually helping the trio. His incompetence became apparent when he attempted to demonstrate a spell on a Cornish Pixie, only to have them wreak havoc in the classroom. Instead of solving the problem, Lockhart made it worse.
