Harry returns to the Dursleys for the summer from "summary" of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (Novel Study) by Keith Whittington

At the end of his second year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Harry Potter finds himself back at the Dursleys' house for the summer. The Dursleys, Harry's aunt and uncle, are not the most welcoming or understanding guardians. They treat Harry poorly, making him sleep in a small cupboard under the stairs and forcing him to do all the chores around the house. Returning to the Dursleys' house is always a difficult time for Harry. He longs to be back at Hogwarts, where he feels like he truly belongs. At Hogwarts, Harry is surrounded by friends and teachers who care about him and appreciate his unique abilities. But at the Dursleys' house, he is constantly reminded of his status as an unwanted burden. Despite the unpleasant circumstances, Harry knows that he must endure the summer at the Dursleys' house until he can return to Hogwarts for his third year. While he is at the Dursleys', Harry tries to keep himself busy by reading his textbooks and practicing his magic in secret. He also stays in touch with his friends at Hogwarts through letters, eagerly anticipating the day when he can leave the Dursleys behind once again. As the summer drags on, Harry's frustration and longing for Hogwarts only grow stronger. He counts down the days until he can board the Hogwarts Express and escape the confines of the Dursleys' house. The thought of returning to Hogwarts gives Harry hope and keeps him going through the difficult summer months.
