Dobby looked up, his eyes wide with shock. "You freed Dobby, sir?" he gasped.
Harry nodded, feeling a surge of gratitude towards the elf. Dobby had risked so much to warn him about the dangers awaiting him at Hogwarts. It was only right that he be rewarded for his loyalty.
"You don't have to punish yourself anymore, Dobby," Harry said gently. "You are a free elf now."
Tears welled up in Dobby's eyes as he realized the significance of Harry's words. For years, he had been bound to serve the Malfoy family, enduring their cruelty and abuse. But now, thanks to Harry's kindness, he was finally free.
Dobby threw himself at Harry's feet, sobbing with joy. "Such a great wizard you are, sir!" he exclaimed. "Dobby is a free elf!"
