Girl wants to be just friends from "summary" of Half Girlfriend by Chetan Bhagat
It wasn’t what I had expected to hear. I thought everything was going great between us. But then she dropped the bombshell. She said she just wanted to be friends. I was taken aback. Wasn’t I doing everything right? Wasn’t I being the perfect guy for her? But apparently, it wasn’t enough. She didn’t see me in that way. She didn’t feel that spark that I felt whenever I was around her. It was like a punch to the gut, a sharp reminder that sometimes things don’t turn out the way you want them to.
I tried to understand her perspective. Maybe she had been hurt before. Maybe she was scared to let someone else in. Maybe she just wasn’t ready for a relationship. Whatever the reason, I knew I had to respect her decision. I couldn’t force her to feel something she didn’t feel. So I took a step back and tried to be the best friend I could be. It wasn’t easy, seeing her with other guys, knowing that I could never be more than just a friend to her. But I had to accept it.
We spent hours talking, laughing, and sharing our thoughts and dreams. We went on adventures together, creating memories that I would cherish forever. And through it all, I couldn’t help but hope that maybe, just maybe, she would change her mind. Maybe she would see me in a different light. But deep down, I knew it was wishful thinking. She had made her decision, and I had to respect that.
Being just friends with her taught me a lot about love and relationships. It taught me that sometimes, no matter how much you care about someone, they might not feel the same way about you. It taught me the importance of acceptance and letting go. And most importantly, it taught me that true love is about wanting the other person to be happy, even if it means being just friends.
