Boy agrees to be her "half girlfriend" from "summary" of Half Girlfriend by Chetan Bhagat

Riya and I were different. She was a rich Delhi girl; I was a poor Bihari boy. She was confident and outgoing; I was shy and reserved. But somehow, we connected. We became friends, and then something more. She wanted me in her life, but she couldn't commit fully. She had her reasons, her fears. I didn't understand it at first. How could she want me, but not want to be my girlfriend? That's when she came up with the idea of being "half girlfriend". It was confusing at first, but I agreed. I wanted her in my life, even if it was only half of her. Being her half girlfriend meant that we were more than friends, but less than lovers. We had a special bond, a connection that went beyond labels. We were there for each other, through thick and thin. We shared our dreams, our fears, our secrets. But there were times when I wanted more. I wanted her to be mine completely, to be my girlfriend. I wanted to hold her hand, to kiss her, to call her mine. But she couldn't give me that. She was afraid of getting hurt, of losing her independence. I struggled with my feelings, with what being her half girlfriend meant. But in the end, I realized that it didn't matter. What mattered was that we cared for each other, that we were there for each other, no matter what. Being her half girlfriend was enough for me, because it meant having her in my life, in whatever capacity she could give. And so, I embraced the concept of being her half girlfriend. I accepted it, I cherished it. Because it was better to have half of her than none of her at all. And in the end, that was all that mattered.
