Letting go of excess possessions can feel like shedding a heavy burden that we have been carrying around with us. As we accumulate more and more things, our lives become cluttered and chaotic, and we find ourselves weighed down by the sheer volume of stuff we own. This burden can manifest itself in various ways - physically, as we struggle to find space for all our belongings; emotionally, as we feel overwhelmed by the constant need to clean, organize, and maintain our possessions; and mentally, as our cluttered surroundings cloud our thoughts and hinder our ability to focus. By releasing ourselves from the burden of excess stuff, we free up physical space in our homes, as well as mental and emotional space in our minds. Simplifying our surroundings allows us to breathe more easily, to move more freely, and to think more clearly.
