Flow requires full engagement from "summary" of Finding Flow by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi

The state of flow, as I have come to understand it through years of research and observation, is a state of optimal experience that individuals can achieve when they are fully engaged in an activity. This concept is at the core of my work on the psychology of happiness and fulfillment. It is not enough to simply go through the motions or perform a task mechanically. In order to experience flow, one must be fully present and immersed in the activity at hand. When we are in a state of flow, we are completely absorbed in what we are doing. Our attention is focused, our skills are being put to the test, and we are challenged just enough to keep us on our toes. This level of engagement is what allows us to experience a sense of deep satisfaction and fulfillment. It is a state of being where time seems to slip away, and we are fully in tune with our actions and surroundings. In order to achieve flow, one must be willing to commit fully to the task at hand. This means setting aside distractions, letting go of self-doubt, and allowing oneself to be fully present in the moment. It requires a certain level of courage and dedication to push past obstacles and fully engage in the activity. But the rewards of experiencing flow are well worth the effort. Flow is not something that can be achieved passively. It requires active participation and a willingness to invest oneself fully in the task. This level of engagement is what allows us to tap into our full potential and experience a sense of deep fulfillment. So if you find yourself seeking greater happiness and satisfaction in life, consider the concept of flow and how you can achieve it through full engagement in your everyday activities.
