Farmers are humiliated by their failure from "summary" of Fantastic Mr Fox by Roald Dahl

It was a sight to behold - the three farmers standing at the entrance of the tunnel, their faces contorted with rage and frustration. Boggis, Bunce, and Bean, the meanest trio in the valley, had been outsmarted yet again by the cunning Mr Fox. Their attempts to catch him had failed miserably, leaving them red-faced and seething with anger. As they stood there, staring into the darkness of the tunnel, a wave of humiliation washed over them. How could a mere fox outwit three experienced farmers? It was an affront to their pride, a blow to their egos. They were used to getting their way, to being in control of the situation. But now, they had been bested by a creature they considered to be beneath them. Their failure was not just a personal one - it was a public spectacle. The other animals in the valley would surely hear of their defeat and revel in their misfortune. The farmers knew that their reputation had taken a severe blow, that they would be the laughing stock of the community for weeks to come. But despite their humiliation, the farmers were not ready to admit defeat. They were determined to catch Mr Fox, to restore their pride and prove once and for all that they were not to be trifled with. And so, with gritted teeth and clenched fists, they set off in pursuit of their elusive foe, their minds consumed with thoughts of revenge.
