Human behavior is shaped by evolution from "summary" of Evolutionary Psychology by David M Buss

Evolutionary psychology posits that human behavior is not a product of sheer randomness or individual choice, but rather a result of millions of years of evolution. The basic premise is that our behaviors, thoughts, and emotions have been shaped by the process of natural selection, just like any other biological trait. In other words, the behaviors that helped our ancestors survive and reproduce have been passed down through generations, becoming ingrained in our genetic makeup.
