Gestures provide insight into feelings from "summary" of Eu sei o que você está pensando by Mark Bowden,Tracey Thomson

The way we move our bodies can reveal a lot about what we are feeling inside. Our gestures can provide valuable clues to our true emotions, even when we are trying to hide them. By paying attention to the subtle signals in someone's body language, we can gain insight into their thoughts and feelings, sometimes even before they are aware of them themselves. When we are feeling confident and in control, our gestures are likely to be open and expansive. We may stand tall, with our chest out and our arms relaxed at our sides. We might use big, sweeping gestures to emphasize our points or make grand gestures of goodwill. On the other hand, when we are feeling anxious or insecure, our gestures are likely to be more closed-off and defensive. We might cross our arms tightly over our chest, hunch our shoulders, or fidget nervously with our hands. One of the most revealing gestures is the way we use our hands. Our hands are incredibly expressive, capable of conveying a wide range of emotions without us even realizing it. For example, when we are feeling unsure or hesitant, we may wring our hands together or clasp them tightly in front of us. Conversely, when we are feeling excited or passionate, our hands may move freely and energetically, punctuating our words with dynamic gestures. Facial expressions are another important indicator of our true feelings. Our faces are incredibly versatile, capable of expressing a wide range of emotions through a subtle interplay of muscles. A genuine smile, for example, will reach all the way to the eyes, crinkling the corners and creating crow's feet. A forced smile, on the other hand, will only engage the muscles around the mouth, lacking the warmth and authenticity of a true smile.
  1. Gestures can provide valuable insight into a person's thoughts and feelings. By paying attention to the way someone moves their body, uses their hands, and expresses themselves facially, we can gain a deeper understanding of their true emotions. These subtle cues can help us to connect more authentically with others and to navigate the complex landscape of human relationships more effectively.
