Motivation plays a crucial role in determining the success of learning outcomes. Students who have high self-efficacy are more likely to set challenging goals, work hard to achieve them, and ultimately, succeed academically. Conversely, students with low self-efficacy may be more likely to give up in the face of challenges, leading to poorer learning outcomes. In addition to self-efficacy, goal orientation also influences motivation and learning outcomes. Students who have a mastery goal orientation are more likely to focus on learning and improving their skills, while those with a performance goal orientation may be more concerned with demonstrating their abilities to others. Research has shown that students with a mastery goal orientation tend to have better learning outcomes compared to those with a performance goal orientation.
