In the tumult of my father’s rants and the chaos of our home, I had come to believe that my worth was tied to my ability to conform to his beliefs and expectations. I was raised with the idea that the outside world was a dangerous place, full of sin and corruption. But as I ventured beyond the confines of our isolated mountain home and encountered new perspectives and ways of thinking, I began to question the values and goals that had been instilled in me since childhood. Education became my pathway to liberation, a means of reshaping my personal values and goals. Through books and lectures, I was exposed to different ways of understanding the world and myself. I discovered that my worth was not contingent upon my ability to please my father or conform to his narrow vision of life. Instead, I learned to value curiosity, critical thinking, and self-determination.
