Planet Earth reflects the influence of human activity from "summary" of Earth in Human Hands by David Grinspoon

The Earth is not the same planet it was before humans arrived. Our presence has left a mark that can be seen from space. From the destruction of forests to the pollution of our oceans, the impact of human activity is evident in every corner of the globe. One of the most visible signs of our influence is the changing composition of the atmosphere. The levels of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide have risen dramatically since the industrial revolution, leading to global warming and climate change. This has far-reaching consequences for ecosystems and biodiversity, as well as for human societies around the world. Another way in which human activity has altered the Earth is through the depletion of natural resources. We have extracted and exploited the planet's resources at an unsustainable rate, leading to deforestation, desertification, and loss of biodiversity. In doing so, we have disrupted the delicate balance of ecosystems and pushed many species to the brink of extinction. The spread of urbanization and industrialization has also transformed the Earth's surface. Cities have expanded, consuming vast amounts of land and resources, while industrial activities have left scars on the landscape in the form of pollution and waste. These changes have not only affected the environment but have also had social and economic impacts on human societies. In short, the Earth today is a reflection of human activity. Our actions have reshaped the planet in ways that are visible from space and have had far-reaching consequences for ecosystems, biodiversity, and human societies. If we are to ensure a sustainable future for our planet, we must acknowledge and address the impact that our presence has had on Earth.
