The origins of the Indian caste system can be traced back to the ancient Aryans, who migrated to the Indian subcontinent around 1500 BCE. These Aryans brought with them a social structure that segregated people based on their occupations and birth, known as varna. This system eventually evolved into the complex caste system that we see in India today. The Aryans divided society into four varnas - Brahmins (priests and scholars), Kshatriyas (warriors and rulers), Vaishyas (traders and agriculturists), and Shudras (laborers and service providers).
