The Constitution laid the foundation for a just society from "summary" of Dr. Ambedkar’s Perspective On Indian Constitution, Law & Social Justice by Dr. Sandeep C. Nagarale

The Constitution of India was not merely a legal document but a moral and political manifesto that aimed to establish justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity for all citizens. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Indian Constitution, envisioned a society where every individual had equal rights and opportunities, regardless of their caste, creed, or gender. He believed that a just society could only be built on the foundation of a robust and inclusive legal framework that protected the rights of the marginalized and vulnerable sections of society. Dr. Ambedkar recognized that social justice was essential for the progress and prosperity of a nation. He was acutely aware of the deep-rooted inequalities and injustices that plagued Indian society, particularly the discrimination faced by the Dalits, Adivasis, and other marginalized communities. Therefore, he ensured that the Constitution not only guaranteed fundamental rights to all citizens but also provided for affirmative action measures to uplift the oppressed classes and promote their social, educational, and economic advancement. The Constitution laid down the principles of equality before the law, non-discrimination, and social justice as the guiding lights for the Indian state. It established independent institutions such as the judiciary, the Election Commission, and the National Commission for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes to safeguard these principles and ensure their implementation. Dr. Ambedkar believed that a just society could only be achieved through the rule of law, constitutional morality, and the active participation of citizens in the democratic process. Furthermore, Dr. Ambedkar emphasized the importance of education, awareness, and empowerment in the quest for social justice. He saw education as the key to liberating the masses from ignorance, superstition, and prejudice. He advocated for the promotion of scientific temper, rational thinking, and critical inquiry among the people to foster a progressive and enlightened society. Dr. Ambedkar also stressed the need for social reform movements, grassroots activism, and community mobilization to challenge oppressive social norms and practices.
