Harry encounters a Dementor from "summary" of Double Trouble and a Window to the Past (selections from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban) by

The air grew cold and misty as a dark figure approached Harry. He felt a sudden chill run down his spine, his breath turning to fog in front of his eyes. The figure was hooded and cloaked, gliding silently towards him. Harry's heart pounded in his chest as he realized what he was facing - a Dementor. The Dementor drew closer, its presence sucking the warmth and happiness from the air. Harry could feel despair washing over him, memories of his darkest moments flooding his mind. He tried to fight back, to push the Dementor away, but it was like trying to hold back a wave with his bare hands. As the Dementor loomed over him, Harry's strength waned. He could hear the echoes of his parents' dying screams, see the blinding green light of the Killing Curse. The world around him faded to gray, all hope and joy draining away. But just as Harry felt himself slipping into darkness, a silver light burst forth from his wand. It formed a shield around him, pushing the Dementor back with a fierce energy. The creature screeched in frustration and fled, leaving Harry gasping for breath but alive. As the mist cleared and the air grew warmer, Harry realized the power of the Dementors - their ability to feed on fear and despair. He knew he would have to be stronger, to find the light within himself to combat the darkness that threatened to overwhelm him. And with that realization, he stood up, determined to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
