In today's world, instant gratification has become the norm. We want things fast, we want things now. We are used to pressing a button and getting what we want almost immediately. However, this constant need for instant gratification can have negative effects on our self-control and overall well-being. By practicing delayed gratification, we are essentially training our self-control muscles. It is like going to the gym and working out to build up your physical strength. When we delay gratification, we are exercising our ability to resist immediate temptations in favor of long-term goals. This can be incredibly challenging in a society that is constantly bombarding us with distractions and instant rewards. Think of delayed gratification as a skill that needs to be developed over time. It won't happen overnight, but with practice and consistency, you can strengthen your self-control.
