Tackle obstacles headon instead of avoiding them from "summary" of Do the Hard Things First by Scott Allan
When faced with obstacles, it's natural to want to avoid them. We tend to shy away from challenges that seem difficult or intimidating, opting instead for the more comfortable path. However, this avoidance only serves to prolong the inevitable and often makes the obstacle seem even more insurmountable. By tackling obstacles head-on, we are able to confront them directly and deal with them in a timely manner. This approach allows us to break the obstacle down into manageable steps, making it easier to overcome. When we avoid obstacles, they tend to grow larger in our minds, causing unnecessary stress and anxiety. Taking on obstacles directly also builds resilience and confidence. Each time we face a challenge head-on and successfully overcome it, we gain a sense of accomplishment and empowerment. This positive reinforcement boosts our self-belief and motivates us to tackle future obstacles with the same determination. Furthermore, addressing obstacles directly can lead to quicker resolutions. By dealing with the issue promptly, we prevent it from escalating and causing further problems down the line. Avoiding obstacles, on the other hand, only delays the inevitable and can result in a more complex and time-consuming resolution process.- Tackling obstacles head-on is a proactive and effective approach to problem-solving. It allows us to confront challenges directly, build resilience, and achieve quicker resolutions. By taking the hard road first, we set ourselves up for success and personal growth.
