Women's agency is often undermined from "summary" of Difficult Women by Roxane Gay

Their voices are silenced, their opinions dismissed, and their actions limited by the oppressive structures that seek to keep them subordinate.- The concept of women's agency being undermined is a central theme in these stories. It highlights the ways in which women are disempowered and disenfranchised in a patriarchal society that seeks to control and diminish their autonomy. By exploring these narratives, we gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and struggles that women face in asserting their agency and taking control of their own lives.
