Rowley embarrasses himself at school from "summary" of Diary of a Wimpy Kid (Diary of a Wimpy Kid #1) by Jeff Kinney

One time at school, Rowley did something that was so embarrassing, I almost died. It was at lunch, and we were sitting at our usual table when Rowley started talking about how he wanted to get a girlfriend. I told him he'd have better luck if he didn't talk about boogers all the time. But then Rowley leaned over and kissed his hand, and I realized he must have been practicing for when he finally got a girlfriend. I was about to tell him that that was the most pathetic thing I'd ever seen, but then Rowley said he wasn't done. He leaned over and kissed his hand again. And then he did it a third time. The whole cafeteria was watching by now, and I wanted to crawl under the table. I knew that if Rowley kept it up, I'd have to find a new best friend. But Rowley wasn't done yet. He looked around the cafeteria like he was going to make a big announcement. Then he stood up and said, "I'm in love!" I wanted to strangle him. Rowley did a little dance and yelled, "I'm in love!" again. I was just waiting for the lunch lady to come over and kick us out of the cafeteria. But before she could, Rowley stood up on the table and screamed, "I'm in love with a girl named Trista!" The whole cafeteria burst into laughter, and I wanted to disappear. Trista was a kindergartner, and she was standing right behind Rowley, holding her lunchbox and sucking her thumb. Rowley turned around and saw her, and his face turned bright red. I knew I'd never let him live this down.
