Greg's minibike gift disappoints him from "summary" of Diary of a Wimpy Kid (Diary of a Wimpy Kid #1) by Jeff Kinney

I thought I was going to get a sweet ride for my birthday, but Mom and Dad had other ideas. They gave me a minibike, which I guess is sort of like a motorcycle for kids. At first, I was excited about it. I pictured myself cruising around the neighborhood, turning heads left and right. But when I actually saw the minibike, my excitement quickly turned to disappointment. It was tiny, with these little training wheels on the back. I felt embarrassed just looking at it. My hopes of being the coolest kid on the block were dashed. I knew that if I rode that thing around, I'd be the laughingstock of the entire town. I tried to make the best of it, though. I took it for a spin around the block, but it was a disaster. I couldn't even steer the thing properly, and I ended up crashing into a bush. To top it off, the minibike was so loud that it attracted the attention of the entire neighborhood. I couldn't wait to get off that thing and never look back. As I sat there in the bush, nursing my scrapes and bruises, I realized that maybe the minibike wasn't so bad after all. It might not have been the cool ride I had envisioned, but it was still a gift from my parents. And maybe, just maybe, I could learn to appreciate it for what it was. Deep down, I knew that they had gotten it for me out of love, even if it wasn't exactly what I had in mind. So, I picked myself up, dusted myself off, and decided to give the minibike another chance.
