Greg loses his student body election from "summary" of Diary of a Wimpy Kid (Diary of a Wimpy Kid #1) by Jeff Kinney

So, I ran for treasurer this year, and I thought I had a pretty good chance of winning. But Manny ended up getting into the race, and he had a much better campaign slogan than I did. He just went around telling everyone he was going to give out free candy if he won. I tried to compete by giving out pencils with my name on them, but nobody seemed to care. And then, on election day, Manny showed up with a whole bunch of candy bars. He was practically throwing them at people as they walked into the polling place. I knew I was in trouble when I saw that. I mean, who's going to vote for a pencil when there's free candy on the line? So, when the results came in, it wasn't really a surprise that Manny had won by a landslide. I was pretty bummed out about it at first. I mean, I had put a lot of work into my campaign, and it was hard to see it all go to waste. But then I realized that maybe being treasurer wasn't all it was cracked up to be. I mean, who wants to be responsible for all that money anyway? So, I decided to look on the bright side. At least now I wouldn't have to sit through all those boring meetings. And hey, maybe next year I could run for a different office. I heard the vice president doesn't have to do anything at all. Sounds like my kind of job.
