Greg becomes a safety patrol officer from "summary" of Diary of a Wimpy Kid (Diary of a Wimpy Kid #1) by Jeff Kinney
So, I got this crazy idea that I should become a safety patrol officer. You know, those kids who wear the bright orange belts and help the little kids cross the street in the morning and afternoon. At first, I thought it would be a pretty sweet gig. I mean, how hard could it be, right? But boy, was I wrong. Turns out, being a safety patrol officer is no walk in the park. For starters, you have to wake up super early to get to school on time. And let me tell you, I am not a morning person. So that was strike one against me.
Then there's the whole responsibility thing. I mean, I'm used to looking out for myself, but now I have to make sure these little kids don't get run over by cars or get lost on their way home. It's a lot of pressure, let me tell you.
And don't even get me started on the weather. Rain or shine, snow or sleet, I have to be out there, standing guard and making sure everything runs smoothly. It's not exactly my idea of a good time.
But despite all the challenges, there is one thing that keeps me going – the sense of pride I feel when I see those little kids safely making their way to and from school. It may not be the most glamorous job, but it's definitely an important one. And who knows, maybe I'll even get a cool badge out of it.
