Happiness does not depend on wealth from "summary" of Deep Economy by Bill McKibben

In our modern society, it is a prevailing belief that wealth is a key determinant of happiness. We are constantly bombarded with messages that more money, more possessions, more wealth will lead to a more fulfilling and content life. However, this notion is deeply flawed and misleading. As Bill McKibben argues in "Deep Economy," the pursuit of wealth as a means to happiness is ultimately futile and unsustainable. McKibben posits that the connection between wealth and happiness is tenuous at best. While it is true that a certain level of material comfort is necessary for basic well-being, beyond that point, the correlation between wealth and happiness diminishes significantly.
