Wide area networks (WANs) connect devices across long distances from "summary" of Data Communications and Networking by Behrouz A. Forouzan
Wide area networks (WANs) are a type of network that connects devices across long distances. Unlike local area networks (LANs) which are confined to a small geographical area such as a single building or campus, WANs cover a much larger area.
