Data transmission is a complex process that involves sending data from one point to another. However, data cannot be transmitted over long distances in its original form. It needs to be converted into signals that can travel over transmission media such as cables, fiber optics, or wireless channels. This conversion process is accomplished through modulation and demodulation. Modulation is the process of encoding digital data into an analog signal so that it can be transmitted over a communication channel. In modulation, the digital data is combined with a carrier signal, which changes the characteristics of the carrier wave to represent the digital information being sent. There are different types of modulation techniques, such as amplitude modulation (AM), frequency modulation (FM), and phase modulation (PM), each with its own advantages and disadvantages. On the other end of the communication channel, demodulation is the process of extracting the original digital data from the analog signal that was transmitted. Demodulation reverses the modulation process by separating the digital data from the carrier wave and converting it back into its original form. Demodulation is essential for receiving and interpreting the data that has been transmitted. Without modulation and demodulation, data transmission would not be possible over long distances. Modulation allows data to be transmitted efficiently over communication channels, while demodulation enables the receiver to extract and interpret the data accurately. This process is vital for ensuring reliable and effective communication between devices in a network.- Modulation and demodulation are essential components of data transmission that enable digital data to be converted into analog signals for transmission and then back into digital form for reception. Without these processes, data communication would not be feasible, and the exchange of information over long distances would be severely limited.
