Manipulators exploit vulnerabilities for their benefit from "summary" of Dark Psychology and Manipulation by William Cooper
Manipulators are adept at identifying and capitalizing on vulnerabilities in others for their own gain. These vulnerabilities may be physical, emotional, psychological, or even situational. By exploiting these weaknesses, manipulators are able to exert control and influence over their targets, leading them to act in ways that benefit the manipulator. One common tactic used by manipulators is to create a sense of dependency in their targets. By identifying and exploiting feelings of insecurity or inadequacy, manipulators can make their targets believe that they need the manipulator in order to feel whole or successful. This manipulation can lead the target to seek validation and approval from the manipulator, giving the manipulator a powerful hold over them. Manipulators may also exploit vulnerabilities by preying on their targets' fears and insecurities. By instilling fear or doubt in their targets, manipulators can manipulate them into acting in ways that benefit the manipulator's agenda. This can result in the target making decisions that they would not otherwise make, all to appease the manipulator and avoid potential consequences. In some cases, manipulators may exploit vulnerabilities by using tactics such as gaslighting or emotional manipulation. By distorting the truth or manipulating the emotions of their targets, manipulators can confuse and control them, leading them to doubt their own perceptions and beliefs. This can make the target more susceptible to the manipulator's influence and less likely to resist their manipulative tactics.- Manipulators exploit vulnerabilities in others as a way to gain power and control. By identifying and capitalizing on weaknesses in their targets, manipulators are able to manipulate them into acting in ways that benefit the manipulator's agenda. This manipulation can have damaging effects on the target's mental and emotional well-being, leaving them feeling powerless and controlled by the manipulator.
