Earthly possessions are fleeting from "summary" of Crazy Love by Francis Chan

The idea that our earthly possessions are fleeting can be challenging for many of us to grasp. We live in a world that constantly tells us that we need more, that we need the latest gadgets, the newest clothes, the trendiest accessories. We are bombarded with messages that tell us that our worth is tied to what we own, to the things that we accumulate throughout our lives. But the truth is that all of these things are temporary. They can be here one moment and gone the next. We can spend our whole lives chasing after possessions, only to have them slip through our fingers when we least expect it. We can build up our wealth, amass all the material goods we desire, but in the end, none of it will matter. It will all be left behind when we depart from this world. In the grand scheme of things, our earthly possessions are just a drop in the bucket. They are insignificant compared to the eternal treasures that await us. We are so focused on what we can see and touch in this life that we forget about the greater riches that are promised to us in the life to come. We are like children playing in a sandbox, oblivious to the vast ocean that lies just beyond our reach. When we begin to see our possessions in this light, we can start to let go of our attachment to them. We can start to live with a sense of freedom, knowing that our true treasure is not found in the things of this world, but in the love of our Creator. We can begin to use our possessions not for our own gain, but for the benefit of others, knowing that our true wealth lies in the relationships we build and the lives we touch. So let us not be consumed by the pursuit of earthly possessions. Let us not be fooled by the lies of this world that tell us our worth is tied to what we own. Instead, let us focus on the eternal treasures that are ours to claim, treasures that can never be taken away. Let us live with open hands, holding our possessions lightly, knowing that they are fleeting, but the love of our Creator is eternal.
