Spoiled Violet Beauregarde from "summary" of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Colour Edition) by Roald Dahl

Violet Beauregarde is a girl who is always chewing gum. She chews gum all day long, chewing and chewing and chewing. She never stops. Her mother and father are very proud of her because she is the best gum-chewer in the whole of America. One day, Violet hears about a new kind of gum, a fabulous gum that is made by an amazing inventor. She wants to try this gum more than anything else in the world. She begs and begs her parents to buy it for her, and finally they give in and buy her a bar of the amazing gum. Violet takes the gum and starts to chew it. It is the most delicious gum she has ever tasted. But then something strange happens. The gum starts to change. It becomes a new flavor, a flavor that no one has ever tasted before. Violet keeps chewing, faster and faster, trying to taste all the wonderful flavors. But then the gum starts to do something even stranger. It starts to swell up, bigger and bigger, until Violet is blown up like a giant balloon. She turns blue and starts to float up to the ceiling. Her parents are horrified. They don't know what to do. Violet's father runs to find the inventor of the gum. He begs him to save Violet, to make her normal again. The inventor hurries to Violet and gives her an antidote. She starts to shrink back to her normal size. But something has changed. Violet is no longer the same girl. She has learned a lesson about being greedy and selfish. She has been spoiled by her desire for more and more. She is no longer the best gum-chewer in America. Violet leaves the factory a changed girl. She has learned that there are more important things in life than just chewing gum. She has learned to be grateful for what she has and to appreciate the people who care about her. She has learned that being spoiled is not a good thing. And she has learned that sometimes, it is better to be humble and kind than to be greedy and selfish.
