The Great Glass Elevator was an extraordinary contraption that could travel not just up and down, but also sideways, slantways, and any other way you could think of. It was made entirely of shining glass, with a door in the side and a big round button in the middle that you pressed to make it go. Once inside, you could see everything outside as if you were floating in mid-air. The elevator was not like any ordinary lift that you might find in a building. It had the ability to soar through the sky like a rocket, zooming up into the clouds and swooping down again in a dizzying display of speed and agility.
