Grandpa Joe from "summary" of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Colour Edition) by Roald Dahl

Grandpa Joe was the oldest person in the entire Bucket family, and there is no doubt that he was also the cheeriest and the kindest. He was a very old man indeed, and had been in bed for the last twenty years. He was only ninety-six. Grandpa Joe was a wonderful old man. He was the only one in the family who never lost hope, not for a single moment. Even when the situation was at its worst, he never stopped smiling. He was a fine, brave man. He could have been out of bed and into the street in one twinkling if only he'd had a walking stick to help him. Grandpa Joe was the oldest of the four grandparents, and he was the one who kept the others going when they were about ready to give up. He was a tiny, ancient figure with a face like a wizened walnut. He was always cheerful, and he always looked on the bright side of things. He was a wonderful old man, and Charlie loved him more than anyone else in the world. Grandpa Joe was the one who remembered all the things that could be done with a piece of bread or a lump of cheese. He was the one who told stories to the children, and he was the one who made everyone feel better when they were feeling low. He was the one who kept the family together, and he was the one who never lost hope. Grandpa Joe was a truly remarkable person. He was a man who had lived through many hard times, and he had always come through with a smile on his face. He was a man who had a kind word for everyone, and a helping hand for those in need. He was a man who had never given up, no matter how tough things got. Grandpa Joe was a man who had a heart full of love, and a spirit that could never be broken.
