Trust your intuition from "summary" of Catching the Big Fish by David Lynch

Intuition is a very important thing. It's the one thing that can't be quantified. Everything else can be quantified, but not intuition. Intuition is the number one tool for an artist. It comes from deep within. It comes from the unconscious, that wellspring of creativity. When you see a fish in a clear stream, you can see its scales, its fins, its tail. You can see it swim. You can even see it breathe. But you can't see the water. Water is the stuff of the fish's environment, the medium in which it lives. Intuition is that water. It's the medium of creativity. It's the thing that connects everything together. Intuition is subtle. It's quiet, and it speaks in whispers. You have to listen very carefully to hear it. It's like a radio station that's faintly playing in the background. You have to tune in to the right frequency to hear it. You have to be quiet and still to hear it. You have to create the conditions for it to emerge. When you trust your intuition, you're trusting that everything is connected. You're trusting that there's a deeper intelligence at work. You're trusting that everything is unfolding as it should. It's like surfing. You have to trust the wave. You have to trust that it will carry you. You have to trust that it will take you where you need to go. Intuition is like a compass. It will guide you in the right direction. It will show you the way. It will lead you to your true self. It will help you catch the big fish. It's the one thing you can always rely on. It's the one thing you can always trust. Trust your intuition, and you will never go astray. Trust your intuition, and you will always find your way.
