Obstacles can lead to unexpected creativity from "summary" of Catching the Big Fish by David Lynch

When you're in a challenging situation, it may seem like the last place to find creativity. But in my experience, obstacles can actually be the perfect breeding ground for unexpected bursts of creativity. When you hit a roadblock, you're forced to think outside the box, to come up with new solutions that you might not have considered otherwise. It's like when you're trying to solve a puzzle - sometimes you have to step back and look at it from a different angle in order to see the solution. The same goes for creativity. When faced with an obstacle, you have to approach it from a different perspective, to think in ways that you wouldn't have thought of if everything was smooth sailing. I've found that some of my best ideas have come to me when I was facing a seemingly insurmountable obstacle. It's almost as if the challenge itself sparks something inside of me, something that pushes me to think beyond my usual boundaries and come up with something truly unique. Creativity is a funny thing - it doesn't always come when you want it to. Sometimes, you have to be pushed to your limits in order to tap into that well of inspiration. Obstacles can serve as the catalyst for this process, forcing you to dig deep and find that spark of creativity that lies within all of us. So don't be afraid of obstacles - embrace them. They may just be the key to unlocking a whole new level of creativity that you never knew you had. Next time you find yourself facing a challenge, remember that it could be the very thing that leads you to your next great idea.
