The hierarchy of caste is not just about the way we are seen by others; it is the lens through which we see ourselves. Caste shapes our perceptions and attitudes towards different groups, influencing our interactions and relationships with those deemed inferior or superior. It is a system deeply ingrained in our society, dictating who we associate with, who we look down upon, and who we aspire to be. From a young age, we are socialized to understand our place within the caste system. We are taught to respect those above us and to look down upon those below us. These attitudes become internalized, shaping our thoughts and behaviors without us even realizing it. We may not consciously discriminate against others based on their caste, but our subconscious biases can still influence our actions in subtle ways.
